Olga C. Meyr, 89, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at the Lutheran Home. She had lived in the Lutheran Home Complex since 2000.

She was born Sept. 19, 1923, in New Wells, daughter of Walter and Ida Leimbach Meyr.

The center of Olga's life was always her Lutheran faith. She was baptized Sept. 30, 1923, and confirmed May 21, 1937, at the Lutheran church in New Wells. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville since 1957, but also attended other Lutheran services. Olga enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, reading, vegetable gardening and quilting.

She was a natural caregiver, and supported herself in life by caring for others in their homes. Olga was known for being a hard worker, patriotic and having a helping spirit.

Loving survivors include a nephew, Donny Meyr; and two nieces, Nancy Meyr and Carolyn Meyr, all of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin H. and Allene Meyr, and a nephew, Kenneth Meyr.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Gordonville.

McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Zion Lutheran Church Repair Fund, or the church or charity of choice.
