SIKESTON, Mo. -- O.J. James, 73, of Sikeston died Monday, May 27, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 4, 1929, in Bethel Springs, Tenn., son of C.J. and Lillie Russom James. He and Louise Wing were married Nov. 3, 1953, in Hernando, Miss.
James owned and operated O.J. James Implement Co. 20 years, retiring in 1991, and also farmed. He was a member of Sikeston Eagles Aerie 3319 and the Elks Lodge in Okeechobee, Fla.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry James of Sikeston; two daughters, Donna Fox of Charleston, Mo., Julie Griffin of Carterville, Ill.; six brothers, Odis, J.C. "Sonny," A.C., Bill, Cletus and Jackie James, all of Sikeston; three sisters, Novell Milani and Maydell Thompson of Sikeston, Bonnie Bracey of Portageville, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Mitchell Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
