CHARLESTON -- Odessie Lee Rowe, 90, of Charleston died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 30, 1906, in Starksville, Miss., daughter of Sam and Rachel Barnes Sanders. She and Hernando Rowe were married Jan. 2, 1939. He died Oct. 29, 1980.
Rowe was a member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Deventer, president of the Pastor's Aid Club, member of the Mother's Board, Ushers Board, and Senior Choir.
Survivors include two sons, Hernando Rowe Jr. of Charleston, Tommie Rowe of South Bend, Ind.; four daughters, Almeta Sloan and Ruth Hart of Charleston, Ophelia Walker of Baltimore, Md., Carrie Wade of St. Louis; a sister, Mary Palmer of Chicago; 32 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Monday.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Baptist Church, with the Revs. Ronald Sloan and William Watson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
