Graveside service for Norman James Metcalfe Murray of Cambridge, Md., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Lorimier Cemetery. The Rev. Patricia Williams will officiate.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 6-8 p.m. today.
Murray, 80, died Monday, May 11, 1992, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 15, 1911, near Providence, R.I., son of James and Louise Schwitzer Murray. He and Christina Harmon were married Feb. 18, 1948, in Cape Girardeau.
Murray was a graduate of William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Va., and received a doctorate degree from Columbia University. He was a college administrator, retiring in 1978 as dean of Central Michigan University.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a first lieutenant when he was discharged. He later served with the Coast Guard, retiring as lieutenant commander.
Survivors include his wife; two brothers, William Murray of Setauket, Long Island, N.Y., and James Murray of Long Island.
