McCLURE, Ill. -- Norman "Doc" Hale, 74, of McClure passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Oct. 11, 1945, in Gale, Illinois, to Thomas Monroe and Susie Winemiller Hale.
He was a hard-working, retired union painter with Slinkard Painting Co. His family and friends were the most important things to him. He was a wonderful brother, loving husband and devoted father.
He and Sandra Kay Prater Hale were married 53 wonderful years. They have four boys, James (Tina) Hale, Darrel (Tammy) Hale, Shawn (Ashley) Hale and Randy (Sharon) Smith; two daughters, Haley (Dylan) DiBenedetto and Alexis Hale; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Norman is also survived by sisters, Liz (the late Jim) Watson and Susanne (the late Harold) Baugher; and brothers, Larry (Lisa) Hale and Don (the late Carrie) Hale.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bob, Jim, Tom, Dewey and Richard Hale.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Illinois, with Brother Robert Smithey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital.
