JACKSON -- Norman E. Maevers, 68, of Jackson died Sunday, Aug.20, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 27, 1927, the son of August and Amanda Nagel Maevers. On Dec. 21, 1973, he married Lou Seabaugh, who survives.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Altenthal-Journes Post 158 in Jackson and of the Jackson VFW. He also was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jackson and the St. Paul's Men's Club.

He was employed at Southeast Missouri State University until his retirement in 1993.

Other survivors include two sons, Ronald Maevers of Benton and Jerry Maevers of Jackson; two brothers, Arlen Maevers of Sikeston and Jerry Maevers of Jackson; two sisters, Mildred Lohmann and Jerlene Hutteger, both of Jackson; a stepson, Bobby Welker of Millersville; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and seven great stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, where American Legion honor guard service will be at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate, and burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
