NORMAN ALLEN MITCHEM

ORAN -- Norman Allen Mitchem, 50, of Oran, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 6, 1942, at Sikeston, son of Luther and Evelyn Pikey Mitchem.

He married Linda M. Watkins, June 17, 1961. She died Aug. 25, 1966.

The then married Evelyn Scharenberg, Oct. 29, 1966.

Mitchem worked as the custodian for the Guardian Angel Catholic Church Parish of Oran.

He was a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, the Knights of Columbus Council 4311 of Oran and Local Labor Union 1104 out of Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife of Oran; his mother of Oran; a son, Dwayne Mitchem of Oran; two daughters, Nena Glastetter of Oran, Darla Beggs of Jackson; a brother, Luther Mitchem of Arnold, Mo.; five sisters, Peggy Sundley and Lill Gilbert of Carpentersville, Ill., Ruby Corey of Joliet, Ill., Brenda Parker of Morley, Mo., Sharon Puffpaff of Oran; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today, and Knights of Columbus prayers will be at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating.

Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Garden Cemetery near Morley, Mo.
