CAIRO, Ill. -- Funeral service for Norma J. Worthington, Cairo Route 1, will be held at 11 a.m. today at First Southern Baptist Church. The Revs. Raymond Oxford, Verlee Eaker and Bill Gholson will officiate, with burial in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.

Barkett Funeral Home at Cairo is in charge of arrangements.

Worthington, 71, died Tuesday, July 2, 1996, at her home.

She was born April 30, 1925, in Union County, daughter of George and Margaret Pender Brooks. She married Carl E. Worthington, who died in 1993.

Worthington was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and was organist more than 40 years. She was also a member of Cairo Business and Professional Women's Club, and past president of Clear Creek Women's Missionary Union.

Survivors include two sons, Craig Worthington and Rodney Worthington of Cairo; three sisters, Mary English of Carterville, Bobbie Halteman of Carbondale, Sherry Thrasher of Alexandria, Va., and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister.
