CARLYLE, Ill. -- Norma Thelma LeGrand, 76, of Carlyle died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at the Carlyle Healthcare Center. She was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Oran, Mo., daughter of Joseph and Caroline Schlosser Blattel. She married Alban LeGrand Aug. 8, 1951, in Oran, and he preceded her in death March 12, 2003...

CARLYLE, Ill. -- Norma Thelma LeGrand, 76, of Carlyle died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at the Carlyle Healthcare Center.

She was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Oran, Mo., daughter of Joseph and Caroline Schlosser Blattel. She married Alban LeGrand Aug. 8, 1951, in Oran, and he preceded her in death March 12, 2003.

She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Thatcher of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., and Sharon Pulver and husband Randy of Beckemeyer, Ill.; a son, Sid LeGrand and wife Mona of O'Fallon, Ill.; four grandchildren, Darrell Vaughn, Christina Roth, Ryan Pulver and Cara Pulver; two great-grandchildren, Vivian Vaughn and Katie Roth; and a sister, Agnes Schaefer and husband Roy of Peoria, Ill. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Thatcher, and a brother, Herbert Blattel.

In her earlier years Mrs. LeGrand worked at a hat factory in Oran and the Shaftner and Marx clothing factory in Chaffee, Mo. The LeGrand family moved to Carlyle in 1966, where Mrs. LeGrand was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Ann Altar Sodality and the K. of C. Auxiliary. She did child care in her home and enjoyed growing African violets and other flowers, canning vegetables from her garden, quilting and working on other crafts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle, with the Rev. George Mauck officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Zieren Day Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials in memory of Mrs. LeGrand are suggested to the Carlyle Senior Center, or Carlyle Healthcare Center.
