Norma Jean Sturgeon Moore, 83, of Fruitland passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, with her loving daughter, Janean, by her side.
Norma was born Aug. 18, 1939, to Elmer and Agnes Meyers Sturgeon in Hahn, Missouri. She married the late Larry Moore on Dec. 18, 1976. They had so much fun together!
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She thoroughly enjoyed working at Southeast Missouri State University in the dormitories. She was considered "Mom" by many of the students. She will be remembered for her sweetness and sense of humor. She had an uncanny knack of seeing faces in inanimate objects and loved to share what she saw. This is called pareidolia, finding patterns in randomness.
Norma is survived by four daughters, Janean (Mike) Wilke of Cape Girardeau, Jamie (Linn) Corbin of Springfield, Missouri, Laura (Greg) Criddle of Burfordville and Amy Coleman of Cape Girardeau; sisters, Corrine Ledbetter and Karen (Jackie) Patton; brother, Johnnie Sturgeon; 12 grandchildren, Brandon (Jenny), Diana, Matthew, Bethany (Donovan), Duke, Emily, Tyler, Lane, Landrie (Lane), Brenden, Breyanah and Breven; and 11 great-grandchildren, Summer, Kaden, Skyler, Malachi, Elliana, Kinsley, Adalynn, Drew, August, Ransom and Hazel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Sturgeon; and her husband, Larry Moore.
A private family graveside celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
