Norm Rechenberg

Norm Rechenberg, 73, of Millersville died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at his home.

He was born Feb. 19, 1934, in Chicago, son of Theodore and Thea Rechenberg. He and Irene Gliem were married July 23, 1960, in Niles, Ill. She died Sept. 24, 2005. He and Mary Koeberl were married Nov. 24, 2007, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

Rechenberg served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 1, 1953, to July 27, 1955. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, where he was trained to instruct how to construct and fire missiles.

Rechenberg was a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago with a B.S. in finance. He did corporate and international taxes for Sara Lee Corp. He retired in 1988 and moved from Libertyville, Ill., to Millersville to become a cattle rancher in Bollinger County.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rechenberg of Millersville; three sons, David N. (Debbie) Rechenberg of Hebron, Ill., Peter N. Rechenberg of Lemay, Mo., Paul N. (Elizabeth) Rechenberg of Chesterfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Peter K., Amy, Heidi, Michael, Emma, Kathryn and Thomas Rechenberg.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanore Rechenberg.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with parish prayers at 6:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Monsignor Ed Eftink officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park. Graveside military rites will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.
