ANNA, Ill. -- Aldon Charles "Nick" Nixon, 79, of Anna died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at his home. He was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Spurgeon, Ind., son of John Ajax and Necia Artie Barrett Nixon. He and Helvia Alice Maki were married Nov. 4, 1944, at Great Lake, Ill. She died Sept. 7, 1990...

ANNA, Ill. -- Aldon Charles "Nick" Nixon, 79, of Anna died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at his home.

He was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Spurgeon, Ind., son of John Ajax and Necia Artie Barrett Nixon. He and Helvia Alice Maki were married Nov. 4, 1944, at Great Lake, Ill. She died Sept. 7, 1990.

Nixon was a retired clerk from Texas Eastern Corp. He was a member of Oakland City American Legion Post 256, Anna-Jonesboro Elks Lodge 1641 and Anna Moose Lodge 1346.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, Anthony Nixon of Buncombe, Ill.; three daughters, Nancy Scherschel, Debbie Chapman and Monica Carey, all of Bedford, Ind.; two sisters, Artie Mason of Booneville, Ind., Ada Ferguson of Oakland City; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clifford Heil officiating. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Spurgeon Cemetery, with military honors by Oakland City American Legion Post.
