Mrs. Neva Mehrle, 100, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday Dec. 25, 1994 in the Good Samaraitan Retirement Center in St. Louis.
She was born Oct. 5, 1894 in St. Louis County, the daughter of Frank and Mary Vedder Brandon.
On Oct. 4, 1922 she married Erwin F. Mehrle in Cape Girardeau. He died Dec. 27, 1982.
She and her husband owned and operated Mehrle's Grocery for 40 years in Cape, before selling out and retiring in 1969.
Survivors include: one son, Brandon Mehrle, Whittier, Calif.; one daughter, Jane Bodine of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Her family moved to Cape when she was teenager and she lived her until 10 years ago when she retired to St. Louis.
She attended the old Steimle Business College, was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, a charter member of the Friendship Circle, and a member of the church choir for many years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years, and a member of White Shrine.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, until the funeral service at 11 a.m., at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
Rev. James Caughlin and Rev. Ernest Jordan will officiate at services, and burial will be in Memorial Park.
