Neva Eloise Kassel, 91, of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born March 5, 1902, at Whitewater, daughter of Dr. W.W. and Ada Lucretia Henry Ford. She and Elmore Kassel were married June 17, 1928, in Cape Girardeau.
Kassel received a degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University.
She and her husband owned Kassel Jewelry Store on Broadway more than 50 years. The store closed in 1969. She also taught more than 40 years at the former Lorimier School, Washington School, and at schools in Diehlstadt, Charleston, and East Prairie.
Kassel was a guardian with the former Camp Fire Girls, and member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, E.W. Kassel of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Ruth Lange of Fruitland, Chloe Gibbons of Shell Knob; a sister, Imogene Abernathie of Springfield, Ill.; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park, with the Rev. Charles Grant officiating.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
