Nettie Jacobs

Nettie Jacobs, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at her home.

Born Feb. 6, 1940, in Mayfield Holler to Dave and Oma Jones James, she was one of 11 children. She and Donald Jacobs were married Jan. 31, 1988, in Cape Girardeau.

Nettie was a Patton High School graduate. After high school, she went to beauty school in Jackson. In addition to being a beautician, Nettie worked at Jackson Hosiery Mill, Lee Rowen and with her husband, Don, at Custom Graphics and Typesetting.

She loved fishing and was hard to beat playing horseshoes. She was a member of Connection Point Church.

Loving survivors include her husband, Donald Jacobs of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Paula (Kevin) Mills of Patton and Lorri Vails of Jackson; a son, Terry (Ann) Drum of Marble Hill; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Jim James of Jackson; three sisters, Norma (Bob) Proffer, Linda (Richard) Bazzell of Jackson and Edna Cook of Marble Hill; two sisters-in-law, Mary James of Marble Hill and Virginia James of Cabool; and many nieces and nephews.

Nettie was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lindel “Bud”, Glen and Jack James; and three sisters, Lucille Garland, Nellie Ruth Yount and Louise Hahs.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, June 24, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral will be at noon Monday June 24, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Mann officiating.

Interment will follow service at Post Oak Cemetery in Patton.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Post Oak Cemetery Fund.
