Nelson C. Farrow, 88, of Jackson passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, where he lived the past several months.
He was born June 11, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, to William J. and Karolina Rehkopf Farrow. He and Emma F. Sparkman were married Sept. 4, 1944, in Cape Girardeau. They had been married 55 years when she passed away Dec. 10, 1999.
Nelson was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving honorably during World War II from Jan. 11, 1943, to July 8, 1944.
His health prompted his early retirement from the city of Cape Girardeau where he operated heavy equipment.
Loving survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Gary) Bruce and Linda Farrow of Jackson; a son, Steven (Rose) Farrow of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Della Robinson of Jackson; six grandchildren, Greg (Amanda) Jennings of Gentry, Ark., and children Tyler, Lane, Dillon and Kyleigh; Roy (Lisa) Jennings of Jackson and their daughters, Mollie and Rachel; Brandi Farrow of Jackson; Tracy McCain of Cape Girardeau and daughter Morgan; Ryan Bruce of Whitewater and daughter Harper; Kyle (Brandy) Bruce of Whitewater and daughter Krista.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Gloria Farrow Rahkopf and Mary Dix; four brothers, Eldo, Clyde, Glenn and Odis Farrow; and two sisters, Edna Mae Farrow and Betty Robinson.
Visitation will begin with the observance of an American Legion service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and will continue until time of service.
The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with military honors provided.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Missouri Veterans Home Foundation.
