NELSON E. MARTIN

Nelson E. Martin, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at his home.

He was born March 14, 1921, at Jackson, son of John Anthony and Daisy Alma Garner Martin. He and Florence Lena Schlimme were married Oct. 27, 1946, at Old Appleton. She died Oct. 16, 1994.

Martin was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Signal Corps from 1941 through 1945. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of St. Marks Lodge 93, York Rite Bodies Order of Eastern Star, High 12 No. 548, the Downtown Rotary Club, VFW Post 3838 and DAV. He worked as a coin machine mechanic for Bill Hollenbeck Co.

Survivors include a son, Richard Martin and a granddaughter, Brandy Martin, both of Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Hugh V. Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
