Nellie Proffer

HOLLISTER, Mo. -- Nellie Ruth Proffer, 73, of Hollister passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017.

She was born July 30, 1943, in Sikeston, Missouri, the daughter of Floyd and Nellie May Karnes. Nellie was joined in marriage Sept. 1, 1965, to Maurice Proffer.

Nellie enjoyed sewing and fishing, and she was a wonderful cook. Most of all, she loved her family and was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. Nellie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leroy Karnes; and a sister, Divola Wilson.

Nellie is survived by her loving husband of almost 52 years, Maurice Proffer of the home; two sons, Steven Proffer and Brandon Proffer and his spouse, Erick Eberlin, all of Hollister; a brother, Robert Karnes of Sikeston; as well as several nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at this time. Burial will be held at a later time.
