SIKESTON, Mo. -- Nellie F. Bird, 79, of Sikeston died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews, Mo. She was born Sept. 6, 1921, at Matthews, daughter of William Marshall and Eathel Williams Hendershott. She and Kermit D. Bird were married Nov. 18, 1941. He died May 30, 1978...
SIKESTON, Mo. -- Nellie F. Bird, 79, of Sikeston died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews, Mo.
She was born Sept. 6, 1921, at Matthews, daughter of William Marshall and Eathel Williams Hendershott. She and Kermit D. Bird were married Nov. 18, 1941. He died May 30, 1978.
Bird was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Meadow Lane Garden Club, and a past worthy matron of Eastern Star in New Madrid, Mo. She had been active in Girl Scouts and was a volunteer at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Matthews of Sikeston; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Sandra Schaller will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel from noon until service time.
