SIKESTON - Naomi Beard, 64 of 408 E. Center St. in Sikeston died at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 1994 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born February 21, 1929 in Coal City, Illinois. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Joliet, Illinois in 1950. She was a registered nurse and has previously worked at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, the Dexter Memorial Hopsital and the Sikeston Regional Center. For the past 15 years, she owned and operated the Naomi Beard Group Home for Mentally Handicapped Adults in Sikeston.
She is survived by one son, Franklin C. Beard of Sikeston, one daughter, Susie Beard of Sikeston, two sisters, Ellen Wills and Ramona Johnson, both of Coal City and three grandsons. A number of nieces and newphews also survive. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The body will be cremated, and the ashes will be interred in the Gardner-Braceville Cemetery at Braceville, Illinois.
