Nancy Jane Kennedy was given life by her creator and was born March 2, 1935, in East Prairie, Missouri, to Earl Kennedy and Bertha Zook. On Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, Nancy went to be with the Lord, and her husband, Charles Moore; sister, Jean Russell, and family, who were waiting with open arms to welcome her into heaven.
Nancy married Charles L. Moore on June 9, 1957.
She graduated high school in 1953 and attended Southeast Missouri State University. Nancy took one year off and worked as a stewardess for American Airlines, serving three-course meals in high heels. She then went back to Southeast Missouri State and graduated in 1959 with a degree in elementary education.
Charles and Nancy moved to Rolla, Missouri, where Charles finished his engineering degree and Nancy taught fifth and sixth grades.
They moved to Anderson, Indiana, followed by Dayton, Ohio. They then settled in Brighton, Michigan, where they lived for 32 years. Nancy worked for Brighton Area Schools at Phoenix High School, where she was a guidance counselor. She loved to work with children who got lost along the way, helping them find their successful path.
After retirement, they moved back to their home state of Missouri. They resided in Chateau Girardeau Estates in Cape Girardeau.
Nancy loved painting, walking, traveling with her wonderful friends, Sandy Arnie Nagel and Susan Joel Allison, whom she loved dearly like family. She also enjoyed getting together with her very close friends at Chateau, who always made her laugh and feel good.
Nancy was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Cape Girardeau. She enjoyed her beautiful church family and helped out wherever they needed her.
Loving survivors include her daughter, Jennifer (Chad) Clark from Monroe, Michigan; wonderful grandson, William Charles Clark; sister, Betty Sewell; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Elmer) Balsman and Diane Besand of Perryville, Missouri; loving nieces and nephews; and many extended family she loved dearly.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Jean Russell in October; loving husband, Charles L. Moore; son, Michael Moore; four brothers; and other family members she is looking forward to being with again.
A memorial service for Nancy is scheduled for March 18 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
