Nancy Jane Detjen, 79, of Jackson passed away on Aug. 23, 2024. A dedicated nurse for 40 years, she cherished family, antiquing, and volunteering. Services will be held Aug. 30 and 31 in Jackson.

Nancy Jane Detjen, 79, of Jackson passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Southeast.

She was born Jan. 15, 1945, in East St. Louis, Illinois, daughter of Edwin H. and Bernice Struckmeyer Peludat. She and Harold Detjen were married on Aug. 12, 1967, in St. Louis.

Nancy was a 1963 graduate of East St. Louis Senior High School. She graduated from Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. Nancy was an registered nurse for 40 years, working in both Missouri and Illinois and retiring in 2007.

She enjoyed antiquing, shopping, reading and watching old movies. She loved flowers, Christmas time and working out with her friends at HeathPoint Fitness in Jackson. Nancy was a volunteer at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau for several years.

Loving survivors include her husband of 57 years, Harold Detjen of Jackson; twin daughters, Jennifer (William) Bryant of Jackson and Patti (Kevin) Kehoe of St. Charles; son, Matt (Joellyn) Detjen of Simpsonville, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Lucas Kehoe, Rachel (Sam) Dwyer, Kolton Kehoe, Aiden Kehoe, Ian and Liam Bryant and Elle and Heidi Detjen; and brother, Alan (Olga) Peludat of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The Rev. Gary Hoffstetter will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the church. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
