SIKESTON -- Nafis "Jug" Runnels, 85, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 2, 1908, in Burfordville, son of Fred and Rosie Ates Runnels. He and Juanita Leavitt were married June 21, 1947, in Chester, Ill.
Runnels was a driver 42 years with L.A. Tucker Truck Lines in Cape Girardeau and Sikeston. He was a member of Teamsters Local 574 in Cape Girardeau, and attended First Baptist Church in Blodgett.
Survivors include two sons, Wesley Runnels of Sikeston, Louis Ticer of Jackson; two daughters, Wilda Beaird of Sikeston, Cleo Slagel of Ft. Worth, Texas; two brothers, Dealing Runnels of Jackson, Loren Runnels of Wappapello; two sisters, Prudence Ross of Cape Girardeau, Marie Proffer of Ft. Worth; 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Lee Fansler and Dewayne Coleman will officiate, with burial in Matthews Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
