SIKESTON -- Nadine Williams Warfield, 68, of Sikeston died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Charleston, the daughter of Willie Ben and Audrey Pettigrew Williams.

She married Samuel Warfield in 1958. He died in 1994.

She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Charleston and Lincoln University in Jefferson City. She taught in Mississippi County for over 50 years, retiring from the Charleston R-1 School District in 1988.

She was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church for many years. Her last membership was in the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons, Michael Warfield, Sam Warfield Jr., Steven Warfield and Joe Warfield, all of Sikeston; four daughters, Paula Bryant of Memphis, Tenn., and the Rev. Gail Hundley, Bernice Howard and Connie Echols of Sikeston; a brother, Kasel Williams of Charleston; two sisters, Effie Davis and Margaret Hudson of Chicago; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cornerstone Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Gail Hundley and Pastor L.J. Nabors officiating.

Burial will be in the Warfield Memorial Cemetery in Oran. Williams-Farr & Purnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
