MATTHEWS -- Myrtle Virginia Lofton, 72, of Matthews died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, at her son's home near East Prairie.
She was born May 2, 1928, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., the daughter of Johnny and Dora Lee Lovett Hicks.
Lofton had lived in the Mississippi and New Madrid counties area most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four sons, Larry Lofton of Matthews, Terry Lofton of East Prairie, Roger Lofton of Sikeston and Garry Lofton of Stockton; three daughters, Peggy Gates and Ruby Freeman of Matthews and Lela Rachal of Colfax, La.; two sisters, Mildred Higdon of Summertown, Tenn., and Irene White of Columbia, Tenn.; 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Dorothy Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
