Shy, 88, died Friday, May 30, 1997, in Eureka.

She was born Oct. 14, 1908, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of James Monroe and Ella W. Cross Shy.

Shy was a payroll clerk for the city of St. Louis 42 years. She was a member of Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, Better Films Council, Shrewsbury AARP Chapter 2946, and St. Louis Jazz Club.

Survivors include cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
