Muriel Charlotte Haney, 88, of Cape Girardeau went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Sunday, May 18, 2014.
She was born April 26, 1926, in Illinois, daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth Hirte. She and Melton Lee "Jack" Haney were married Nov. 13, 1943, in Jackson.
Muriel was a devoted mother and wife.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandy (Kermit) Meystedt of Cape Girardeau; a son, Jack (Verna) Haney of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Madra Meystedt Jones (Michael) and Jay (Gigi) Meystedt of Cape Girardeau, Aron (Lauren) Meystedt of Dallas, Jim Haney, Terry Ott and Jeri Sue (Joe) Gustafson of St. Louis; six great-grandchildren, Graesen Meystedt, Anna Clare Jones, Savannah Jones and Liviah Meystedt of Cape Girardeau, Kaylee and Eric Gustafson of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Haney on Dec. 30, 2001; two sisters and two brothers.
A private family service was today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Burial was in Cape County Memorial Park.
