CAIRO, Ill. -- Service for Mrs. Dallas H. Wood will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barkett Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens, near Villa Ridge.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Friends may also call at the Irwin Chapel on Maryville Road in Granite City from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Wood, 84 years old, of Granite City, Ill., formerly of Cairo, died at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis Monday, April 15, 1991. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wood.
She was born Aug. 3, 1906 in Oklahoma, daughter of Howard and Frances Eck Hickok.
She was a social worker for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for 33 years before her retirement in 1971.
She was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Cairo. She was also a past District 16 chairman for the Cairo Business & Professional Women, and past president of the Cairo Historical Society.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frances Glawe, of Farmer City, Ill.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Myra Griffith Polston of Granite City, and Mrs. Colleen Manuel of Mansfield, Ill.; a grandson, Curtis Glawe, of Flanagan, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Lois Nelson of Carbondale, Ill.; and four great grandchildren.
