SIKESTON, Mo. -- Morris Jones, 79, of Sikeston died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at his home. He was born March 22, 1925, in Sikeston, son of Harry and Opal Griggs Jones. He and Della M. Eskew were married Jan. 7, 1951, in Piggott, Ark. She died Feb. 6, 1994...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Morris Jones, 79, of Sikeston died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at his home.

He was born March 22, 1925, in Sikeston, son of Harry and Opal Griggs Jones. He and Della M. Eskew were married Jan. 7, 1951, in Piggott, Ark. She died Feb. 6, 1994.

Jones was a former truck driver in St. Louis and Kansas City. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Jones of Independence, Mo., and a stepbrother, Jack Grossbeck of Sikeston.

He was preceded in death by a half brother.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blodgett Cemetery at Blodgett, Mo.
