ULLIN, Ill. -- Morris Daniels, 73, of Ullin died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 26, 1924, in Ullin, son of Ollie and Vinnie Walker Daniels. Daniels was retired from Ullin Quarry. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Operating Engineers Local 318. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars...

ULLIN, Ill. -- Morris Daniels, 73, of Ullin died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 26, 1924, in Ullin, son of Ollie and Vinnie Walker Daniels.

Daniels was retired from Ullin Quarry. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Operating Engineers Local 318. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.

Survivors include a son, Oliver Daniels of Dongola; a stepson, Harold "Buddy" Sharp of Harrisburg; two stepdaughters, Bonita Bigham of Olive Branch, Lydia VanRockel of Anna; two sisters, Maxine Carstens and Frances Junkerman of Anna; three stepgrandchildren; 14 great-stepgrandchildren; and a great-great-stepgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, an infant brother, and a stepgranddaughter.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin from 6-9 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Gholson officiating. Burial will be in Ullin Cemetery, with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
