Funeral service for Monte Lee Grant of Norman, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norman. Dr. Jim Burns will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery at Norman.

Mayes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Grant, 41, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at Norman Regional Hospital, following a sudden illness.

He was born Oct. 9, 1955, in Chickasha, Okla., son of Richard H. and Janis Grant. He graduated from high school in 1973 in Ada, Okla., and won a state tennis championship.

Grant attended East Central State University in Ada, the University of Oklahoma in Norman, and was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1974-79.

He was an insurance agent with Cleveland County Farm Bureau 14 years and received numerous awards and recognition. He was also an agent with Cape County Farm Bureau from 1982-88.

Survivors include a son, Kyle Grant of the home; a daughter, McKenzie Grant-Gloss of Yukon, Okla.; his mother and stepfather, Janis and Charles Johnson of Norman; his father of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Edward Grant of Norman; a stepbrother, Michael Johnson of Norman; a stepsister, Jill Brennan of Denver, Colo.; and maternal grandmother, Maggie Thrailkill of Norman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, maternal grandfather, and paternal grandparents.
