Monta Frances Bartels, 80, of Columbia died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at The Williamsburg in Columbia.
She was born Jan. 13, 1919, at Burfordville, daughter of Clarence Edward and Alpha McRealth Mungle. She and Frederick August Bartels were married April 24, 1935, at Whitewater. He died Sept. 3, 1994.
Bartels worked at International Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau many years. She was an honorary lifetime member of Hanover Lutheran Church, and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Centralia, Mo.
Survivors include a son, Edward Bartels of Hallsville; a daughter, Janet Cleaves of Fayette; a sister, Gertrude Thorne of St. Louis; a brother, Roland Mungle of Hot Springs, Ark.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 6-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hanover Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jeffrey Sippy will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
