SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mona K. Scheeter, 72, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 10, 1944, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, to the late Fred and Eunice Rutter Sutton, she was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and had worked for Wohl/Brown Shoe Co. before retiring.

In March 1988, she married Kenny Scheeter, and he preceded her in death in September 2002.

She is survived by her two children with Derrel Ray, Shane (Teresa) Ray and Sonya Ray, both of Benton, Missouri; her son, Alan Scheeter of Sikeston; two brothers, Jerry Sutton of Mountain Grove and Larry Sutton of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Jan Hall of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Violet Cavaness of Houston, Missouri, and Cathy Freeman of Springfield, Missouri; six grandchildren, Hailey Crump of Little Rock, Arkansas, Shae Rapien, Gaven Ray, Jordan Baldwin and Carlee Ray, all of Benton, and Daniel Ray of Cabot, Arkansas; and two great-grandchildren, Lexi Crump of Little Rock and Pyper Rapien of Benton.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Sherry Sutton, Shirley Sutton, Marcia Head and Betty Brown.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton. The Rev. Michael Casteel, pastor of St. Denis Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Catholic Church Cemetery in New Hamburg, Missouri.
