ANNA, Ill. -- M.J. "Red" Egner, 86, of Anna died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Mound City, Ill., son of Walter E. and Clara Killius Egner. He and Adeline K. Bridewell were married Oct. 25, 1941, in Mound City.
Egner retired from Bunny Bread Corp., where he worked 34 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna Franck of St. Charles, Mo.; a son, Larry Egner of Pontoon Beach, Ill.; a brother, Johnny Egner of Fremont, Calif.; a sister, Audrey Engle of Palmer, Alaska; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. The rosary will be recited at 6:30.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church, with Monsignor Dennis Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Mounds, Ill., at a later date.
