SIKESTON, Mo. -- Miriam Leonia Alexander, 79, of Sikeston died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born March 21, 1921, in Hoxie, Ark., daughter of Fred Lemont and Minnie Pearl Christian Jackson. She and Seamon Orff Alexander were married Sept. 23, 1939, at Charleston, Mo. He died July 28, 1978.
Alexander was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry and Steve Alexander of Sikeston; two daughters, Betty Ward and Rita Newman of Sikeston; a sister, Helen Huggins of Sikeston; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, two sisters and a grandchild.
Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Revs. Marvin Butrum and Matthew Butrum officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
