KARNAK, Ill. -- Minnie Helmig Bishop, 101, of Karnak died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at her home. She was born June 15, 1898, in Johnson County, Ill., daughter of Harmon and Molly Housewright Helmig. KARNAK, Ill. -- Minnie Helmig Bishop, 101, of Karnak died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at her home.

She was born June 15, 1898, in Johnson County, Ill., daughter of Harmon and Molly Housewright Helmig.

She was a member of the Karnak United Methodist Church for 87 years and was the church's last surviving charter member.

She was retired from Main Bros. Box and Lumber Co.

Survivors include a daughter, Louise Eastwood of Karnak; three sons, Bill bishop of Paducah, Ky., Bruce Bishop of Karnak and Hearl "Buddy" Bishop of Canton; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Bishop, a daughter, three sisters, a brother and a great-grandson.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Karnak United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Steve Heisner and Joey Dunning officiating. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery at Cypress.
