Minnie M. Verble, 99, of Pulaski, Ill., passed away at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Mrs. Verble was born Sept. 18, 1912, in Pulaski County, Ill., to the late Henry H. and Elizabeth Glenzy Modglin.
Mrs. Verble was a member of the Pulaski Christian Church and a member of the Ladies Aid of the church; member of the Pulaski-Alexander County Farm Bureau; was a former superintendent with textiles, crafts and fine arts at the Pulaski County Fair for many years, and she and her husband owned and operated the H. E. Verbles Garage in Pulaski, where she retired in 1994 after many years of service.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry E. Verble on May 11, 1970; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Ann Verble in April 2010; her brothers, Clenton, Henry and William "Bill" Modglin; sisters, Edith Insco, Louise Combecker and Altha Jones.
Mrs. Verble enjoyed gardening every year, along with over the years quilting, tatting, crocheting and other crafts.
Survivors include her son, R. Leo Verble of Cairo, Ill.; a granddaughter, Debra A. (Dewayne) Bryant of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Tim L. (Jane) Verble of St. Charles, Mo.; a great-grandson, Steven H. Verble of Columbia, Mo.; a brother, George Modglin of Ullin, Ill.; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill., with the Rev. Wiley D. Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday until service time at Jones Funeral Home.
