Minnie Russell, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 5, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
She was born Jan. 26, 1942, in Diehlstadt, Mo., daughter of Richard and Mary Peterson Avant. She and Jimmy Russell were married in 1992 in Lilbourn, Mo.
She was a member of Christian Fellowship Assembly in St. Louis. She was a graduate of Arkansas State University and retired from Alumax Inc. in 1999.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Chrystal Edwards of Chicago; two sons, Michael Avant of Marianna, Ark., Daryol Edwards of Jonesboro, Ark.; a brother, Robert Betts of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Gloria Avant, Betty Ford and Phyllis Betts, all of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be held at Second Missionary Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Clarence Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
