ADVANCE -- Minnie Long, 97, died Monday, May 11, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 22, 1900, in Bollinger County, daughter of Jacob and Mellie Welker. She and Bland Long were married May 23, 1918, in Bollinger County. He died Aug. 14, 1966.
Long attended Hurricane Fork School. She was a member of Hurricane Fork Baptist Church, charter member of New Hope General Baptist Church, and was attending Bethel General Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Earshal Long of Biggers, Ark., Benton Long of Advance, Lonnie Long of Los Alamitos, Calif., Charles Long of Yorba Linda, Calif.; four daughters, Geraldine Moore of Oran, Nadine Robison, Mella Eaker and Maxine Myers, all of Advance; a sister, Iva Welker of Brownwood; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, a sister, and four brothers.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Ray Placher and Arvil Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
