ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Milton Hecht, 86, of Altenburg died Dec. 31, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis. He was born July 14, 1925, in Perry County, Mo., son of the late Martin and Clara Weseloh Hecht. He and Aline Schmidt were married Oct. 24, 1948. She preceded him in death March 5, 2009...

ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Milton Hecht, 86, of Altenburg died Dec. 31, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born July 14, 1925, in Perry County, Mo., son of the late Martin and Clara Weseloh Hecht. He and Aline Schmidt were married Oct. 24, 1948. She preceded him in death March 5, 2009.

Mr. Hecht had worked at Concordia Publishing House in St. Louis for 34 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, a U.S. Navy World War II and Korean veteran and former member of the VFW Post 4282.

Survivors include two children, Nancy Hecht and Martin (Maureen) Hecht, both of St. Louis; three brothers and one sister, Raymond Hecht of Cape Girardeau, Elmer Hecht of Frohna, Mo., Richard Hecht of St. Charles, Mo., Florence Gruenwald of Altenburg; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons, Dennis and David Hecht; three sisters; and two brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg and from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Steven Dressler officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside service provided by VFW Post 4282.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
