SIKESTON -- Millie Watson, 80, of Sikeston died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
She was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Waterproof, La., daughter of Victor and Mattie Holmes. She and the Rev. William Watson were married Aug. 8, 1936, in Proctor, Ark.
Watson was a licensed midwife in Scott County more than 40 years and delivered more than 2,000 infants in Scott County and the surrounding area.
She was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Henson.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Cleve Watson of Colorado, William Watson Jr. of Alaska, Floyd Watson of California; a daughter, Pearl Williams of California; three brothers, Ethel and Samuel Holmes of Arkansas, Thedoes Holmes of Missouri; five sisters, Rosie and Annie Holmes of California, Victoria and Lilly Holmes of Illinois, Lola Holmes of Arkansas; numerous grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call at Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Sikeston from 3-7 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Church in Henson, with the Rev. Melvin Williams officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
