SIKESTON -- Millie Olive Helms, 82, of Sikeston died Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was born June 16, 1914, at Marston, daughter of Charles Franklin and Golda Jane Haynes Skalsky. She and William Everett Helms were married Dec. 24, 1934, at New Madrid. He died March 21, 1987...

SIKESTON -- Millie Olive Helms, 82, of Sikeston died Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born June 16, 1914, at Marston, daughter of Charles Franklin and Golda Jane Haynes Skalsky. She and William Everett Helms were married Dec. 24, 1934, at New Madrid. He died March 21, 1987.

Helms had been a machine operator and quality inspector at International Shoe Co. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay Vinson of Oviedo, Fla.; a brother, Orville Skalsky of Sikeston; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, grandson, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Bryan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Matthews Cemetery.
