Millicent A. O'Connell, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at The Lutheran Home.
She was born Aug. 8, 1913, in Whitewater, daughter of John F. and Macilia Proffer Poinsett. She and Glenn O'Connell were married Nov. 5, 1933, at Old McKendree Methodist Church in Jackson. He died Feb. 16, 1988.
O'Connell was a salesclerk at Libson Shop in Cape Girardeau. She moved to St. Louis where she was manager of the ladies department at Boyd's Department Store more than 20 years.
She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.
She is survived by a son, David Carr Lane O'Connell of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Christopher O'Connell and Tracey Lively of Cape Girardeau; four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Rex O'Connell, and Savannah and Bronson Lively; two great-nieces; and three great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, two sisters, three nieces, a nephew and a great-nephew.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
