Mildred Virginia Hook, 83, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, January 15, 1999 at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born December 29, 1915 at Fornfelt, the daughter of Meade Wilson and Louisa Virginia Stepp Ireland. She married Rev. Thomas William Hook on November 12, 1943 at Valley Park. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1977.
Mrs. Hook was a member of Assembly of God Church in Jackson where she taught Sunday school for 20 years. She had lived in Cape Girardeau the past 39 years and prior to that for 4 years in Jackson. Also, she had worked at Lowenbaum Dress Factory as a machine operator for 18 years.
Survivors include a stepson, Kenneth E. Hook of Kansas City, Mo; a stepdaughter, Doris M. Hook Miller of Springfield, IL; a sister, Marjorie "Jean" Hunter of Cape Girardeau; seven step grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren, one step great great granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joycelyn Kay Hook, on July 12, 1963; three brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will be Saturday, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Funeral will be Sunday, January 17, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel with the Revs. Dean Heady and Gary Petty officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
