JACKSON -- Mildred Poston Gast of Jackson died at St. Francis Medical Center Thursday, May 20, 1993. She was 82.
She was born Aug. 7, 1910, at Glen Allen, the daughter of Hiram Sitzes and Elizabeth Sample Sitzes.
She married William B. Poston on Aug. 25, 1928; he died Dec. 24, 1942. She then married Francis "Red" Gast on Dec. 23, 1957; he died March 15, 1970.
Survivors include three sons, Rodney Poston and Ronald Poston of Cape Girardeau, and Richard Poston of Jackson; one daughter, Janet Poston of Jackson; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grand~children.
She was preceded in death last month by a son.
During her life, she worked for the International Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau, the John I. Hay Barge Co., in St. Louis, before retiring in 1970 from the Sunny Hill Restaurant in Cape Girardeau.
She was a lifelong member of the First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday at McComb's Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. David Griesemer officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at McComb's.
