OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Mildred J. Held, 76, of Olive Branch died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Mildred J. Held, 76, of Olive Branch died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 13, 1936, in Thebes, Ill., to Herman and Essie Meyers Petitt. She was a school bus driver for Ryder Transportation 33 years, retiring in 2007. She was an active member of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers several years.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry L. Held of Olive Branch; four sons, David W. (Teresa) Clubb of Thebes, Michael L. Held of Benton, Ill., Jerry K. (Beverly) Held of Olive Branch and Kevin R. Held of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Billy D. Petitt of Olive Branch; a sister, Minnie M. McCartee of Silverhill, Ala.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Wendy Siegelman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randy Held; a granddaughter, Jessica K. Held; four brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Clark Short officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
