PATTON, Mo. -- Mildred Bee Besher, 80, of Mountain View, Mo., formerly of Patton, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the family home.

She was born March 15, 1929, at Lixville, Mo., daughter of Dale and Annie Broeker Propst. She and Floyd Besher were married Dec. 12, 1947. He preceded her in death July 1, 1988.

Mildred attended First Baptist Church in Mountain View. She graduated from Patton High School in 1947, and Southeast Missouri State College in 1960 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education.

She taught 30 years, retiring in 1985. She remained very active after retirement with substitute teaching, crafts, traveling and church work.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Besher of Wichita Falls, Texas, Donald Besher of Mountain View; three grandchildren, Kenneth Besher of Gainesville, Texas, Kathie Bradley of Republic, Mo., Harley Besher of Springfield, Mo.; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Propst of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Carroll Propst of DeSoto, Mo.; three sisters, Billy Surface of Grassy, Mo., Maxine Fredricks of Jackson and Lucille Moser of Convoy, Ohio.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Mo.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Noble officiating. Burial will be in Post Oak Church Cemetery near Patton.
