PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Michael Franklin Schmidt Sr., 57, of Perryville died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, as the result of an accident in Perryville.

He was born June 25, 1956, in Perryville, son of Franklin "Dutch" Schmidt and Zita Schrenk Schmidt. He and Jeannie A. Vaeth were married July 12, 1980, in Perryville.

Schmidt was the owner-operator of Winkler Wrecker Service in Perryville. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Sons of the American Legion Post No. 133.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Zita Schmidt of Perryville; one son, Michael F. Schmidt Jr. and special friend Kindra of Perryville; two daughters, Melissa (Josh) Ponder and Brittany Schmidt and special friend Craig, both of Perryville; one grandson, Brody Ponder, who was Paw Paw's buddy; two brothers, Mark "Pete" Schmidt and Ronald Schmidt, both of Perryville; and three sisters, Janet Miller, Karen Schindler and Terry Mattingly, all of Perryville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin "Dutch" Schmidt.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 6:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Milton Ryan, CM, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family's choice.

Miller Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
