CAIRO -- Michael P. O'Shea Sr., 88, of Cairo died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997 at his home.
He was born May 22, 1908, in Cairo, son of Michael J. and Mary Fogassey O'Shea.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He served as the Alexander County state's attorney for 16 years and was an associate judge until his retirement. He was a member of the Illinois Judges Association, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Cairo VFW, the Cairo Elks Lodge and a Fourth Degree Sir Knight with the Cairo Assembly Knights of Columbus.
He married Mary Jane Hatcher on Oct. 16, 1942.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael P. O'Shea Jr. of Cairo; a sister, Mary Alice Culp; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry as celebrant. The Cairo Knights of Columbus will conduct a prayer service during the Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Villa Ridge.
