Michael Garth Miller, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 2, 1936, in Oneonta, New York, to John Augustus "Jack" and Olive Leone "Robin" Robinson Miller. He and Janice Crader were married, and she survives.
He studied at Delaware Academy and Central School, St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, and the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
He was a member of the Cape West Rotary and the International City/County Managers Association.
He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
He was city manager in Slater, Missouri; Vermillion, South Dakota; Maplewood, Minnesota; Council Bluffs, Iowa; St. Joseph, Missouri; Ferguson, Missouri; and Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Miller of Cape Girardeau; five children, Laura Thompson of Rochester, Minnesota, Scott Miller of Miami, Allison Blazing of Rochester, Tony Rois of Wichita, Kansas, and Carrie Christensen of Oviedo, Florida; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with the Rev. S. Michael Malone officiating.
